Zurich: The Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi met with HE State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Department of the Swiss Confederation, Alexandre Fasel. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 2026 MAS ETH Mediation in Peace Processes Policy Forum in Zurich.
According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions between the two officials reviewed the bilateral relations between Qatar and Switzerland, focusing on ways to enhance cooperation in various fields. The talks also covered the latest developments in the region, with a particular emphasis on efforts to de-escalate tensions and improve regional security and stability.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on ongoing mediation efforts between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The importance of continuing diplomatic engagement to address outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means was underscored.
HE Dr. Al Khulaifi reiterated Qatar's support for diplomatic initiatives aimed at promoting dialogue and reducing tensions. He emphasized that diplomacy is crucial for resolving outstanding issues, strengthening regional security and stability, and establishing conditions for sustainable understandings that benefit mutual interests and help prevent further escalation in the region.
