Doha: HE Chairperson of Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al-Thani engaged in talks with HE Minister of Media of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Yousef Al Dosari, focusing on enhancing media cooperation between the two nations under the umbrella of the media committee from the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council. The meeting, attended by senior media officials from both countries, aimed to bolster media partnerships and projects.
According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions included HE CEO of QMC Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani and HE Director-General of Qatar News Agency Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi from Qatar’s side. Representing Saudi Arabia were HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Media for External Media Dr. Khalid Al Ghamdi, HE Acting President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Ali bin Abdullah Alzaid, and HE CEO of the Saudi Broadcasting Authority Mohammad bin Fahd Al Harithi. The dialogue centered on media exchange programs and partnerships, highlighting the significant role media institutions play in reflecting the strong ties between the two countries.
HE the Chairperson of QMC noted that the shared values and deep ties between the nations create an ideal environment for media initiatives and projects. He emphasized the progress made in cooperation and partnerships between media institutions of both countries and expressed the ambition to achieve greater integration and sustainability in media relations.
HE the Minister of Media of Saudi Arabia echoed these sentiments, highlighting that media cooperation between the two countries is at an optimal level. He expressed a desire to further expand these partnerships to reflect the distinguished bilateral relations and support a shared media vision.
The meeting concluded with agreements on several media initiatives, including training programs for young media professionals, discussion of broadcasting rights for national sports events, and a collaborative television drama project highlighting the historical relations between the two nations. A joint working group was also formed to develop an executive plan for these initiatives, with monthly meetings alternating between the two countries to ensure continued progress.
