Doha: The State of Qatar emphasized the significance of global collaboration to eradicate the remnants of the former Syrian regime's chemical weapons program, commending the Syrian Arab Republic's cooperation with international organizations and partners.
According to Qatar News Agency, this statement was made during the participation of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Qatar's representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Dr. Mutlaq bin Majid Al Qahtani, in a briefing hosted by the Syrian Arab Republic at the OPCW headquarters. The briefing focused on the objectives of the international working group "The Breath of Freedom," which aims to dismantle the former Syrian regime's chemical weapons program.
During the briefing, HE Dr. Mutlaq underscored the necessity for international partners to aid in developing Syrian national capacities through technical, medical, and operational support. This effort is intended to achieve long-term progress towards a Syria free from chemical weapons.
The international working group "The Breath of Freedom" is led by Syria, with backing from Qatar, Canada, France, Germany, Turkiye, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
