Tripoli: The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, welcomed the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling issued on Friday and called for the Israeli occupation to commit to taking measures to provide humanitarian services and aid to Gaza Strip. Al-Menfi said in a statement published by the communication office of the council, "We will continue our role in providing support and assistance while declaring our intention to join the case filed by South Africa and to present our plea before the ICJ on February 22nd regarding the apartheid measures practiced by the occupation against Palestinians.' Al-Menfi stressed that the ICJ's ruling requires an immediate cessation of military operations in order to implement it, considering that the ruling is a victory for humanity and the law and must be the basis for an immediate ceasefire, as it alone can stop the campaign of killing and destruction carried out by the Israeli aggression against defenseless civilians, infrastructure, and places of wor ship. 'This is an important step towards international justice, and it pushes us to greater collective action within the UN in order to stop all forms of genocide that the Palestinian people have been subjected to for 75 years,' he added.
