PM Concludes His Visit To Baiji And Confirms Going Towards Investing Natural Resources In All Regions Of Iraq / More

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, concluded today, Wednesday, his visit to the Baiji district in Salah Al-Din Governorate, where he was briefed on a number of important projects, during which he inaugurated a unit in the Baiji refinery.

Al-Sudani announced, during a press statement in Baiji district, the recovery of large quantities of equipment, devices and parts that were stolen from the North Refinery in Baiji, during the presence of ISIS terrorist gangs, as they were brought from areas in the Kurdistan region of Iraq through the cooperation of several parties, official and unofficial.

During his visit to Al-Fatah Bridge project and the sewage sewer project for the district, the Prime Minister indicated "the speedy completion of work and the removal of obstacles that hinder their completion."

Al-Sudani also spoke about his visit to the site of Baiji thermal station project for the production of electricity, and his follow-up on the progress of the implementation of rehabilitation and reconstruction works in it, and the efforts to rehabilitate the first and second Baiji gas stations, as well as his meeting with a group of notables and clan elders in Baiji district, and officials of the service and security departments there." .

Al-Sudani said during his visit: “Baiji district was subjected to vandalism and destruction during the presence of terrorist ISIS gangs and during the liberation operations, which affected the service aspects in this district and its districts. It took time and effort, and with the cooperation and national initiative of one of the citizens, he took the initiative to deliver these materials, and they were in the Kurdistan region.”

He added that: in cooperation with several official and unofficial parties, we were able to recover the stolen equipment, through trucks loaded with equipment and devices that constitute large financial costs estimated at millions of dollars, and restarting the North Refinery will be in Iraqi hands, through national competencies that have experience in implementation, The national staff has previously re-operated Salah al-Din Refinery No. 1, with a capacity of 70,000 barrels per day, and Salah El-Din 2 refinery, with a capacity of 72,000 barrels.

He pointed out that "these competencies in the ministry's companies and support companies have the ability and potential to rehabilitate the important Baiji oil and economic refinery project for Iraq in general, and we made a decision to start the work of rehabilitating the refinery after the arrival of the stolen materials, which represent more than 60% of the requirements needed by the company in charge." We directed the Ministry of Oil to hold an urgent meeting in the presence of all concerned parties, and we agreed to grant administrative powers to the general manager of the company, so that he can expedite implementation, and we moved to the second gas station, which, if completed, will provide 1014 megawatts, which were destroyed during the war on ISIS.

He added: The Ministry of Electricity will hold a discussion with Siemens, which will be resolved within two weeks to start signing the contract and start implementation. The Ministry of Electricity is holding discussions with Qatari companies for the purpose of signing an investment contract to rehabilitate Baiji thermal station, which would provide up to 1,320 megawatts in the first phase, and up to 2,200 megawatts in the second phase, and the government is directing to proceed with projects in the medium term to add new energies and cover the needs of the system and the rate of increasing growth.

He pointed out that "the Ministry of Health has included the establishment of a 100-bed hospital in Baiji district as part of a project that includes 15 hospitals, at the level of districts in all governorates, and there will be a unified design for these hospitals, and then completing the requirements for listing and announcing the start of work with them," indicating: " The urea fertilizer project is one of the important projects, and it is in the process of agreement between the Ministry of Industry and one of the investing companies, after the last conference of the ministry, during which investment opportunities were presented, and there is an oil project that is hoped to be subject to investment.

He continued: "We are moving towards relying on the enormous natural resources that will meet the needs of the local market, open the way for the private sector and find solutions to many problems, including unemployment by providing job opportunities. And we held a meeting in the presence of officials, tribal sheikhs, notables and others, in which we discussed all the proposals and indicated the government's interest in this district, which is characterized by its privacy.
