PM Chairs A Session Of The Ministerial Council For National Security

The Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Al-Sudani, chaired today, Wednesday, a regular session of the Ministerial Council for National Security.

During the session, developments in the security situation in the country were discussed, and the progress made by the security services, in terms of fighting the remnants of ISIS terrorist gangs, and confronting organized crime and drug traffickers.

At the outset of the session, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, according to a statement by the spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahia Rasool, referred to the ninth anniversary of the blessed jihad fatwa issued by the supreme authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, and the establishment of the Popular Mobilization Forces, praising the heroism of the sons of the Popular Mobilization Forces in confronting the threat of terrorism and the great sacrifices they made for the unity of Iraq.

Al-Sudani briefly reviewed, according to the statement, his recent visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, its dimensions in the security and economic fields, and the results achieved that are in the interest of Iraq and its people, congratulating the Iraqi people for voting on the tripartite budget law, stressing on the officials of all security agencies, the need to invest the budget in an optimal manner, dealing carefully and accurately with its paragraphs, in a way that does not cause waste or loss of public money.

The council discussed a number of topics on the agenda, most notably the unification of government efforts to manage crises and disasters, as the recommendations submitted by the National Operations Center in this regard were approved.

The file of extremist religious movements and their effects on society and ways to confront them were also discussed, and the necessary recommendations were made in this regard.

The statement added: "The council also discussed the file of acts of vandalism and fires, intended and unintended, in some government buildings, and the need to strengthen precautionary measures to secure government facilities and work to protect infrastructure."
