Doha: The Philippine Navy (PN) affirmed its commitment to developing its defense capabilities in various fields of warfare, not just anti-submarine warfare (ASW), stressing the importance of cooperation with various parties to enhance its military capabilities, most notably Italy.
According to Qatar News Agency, Philippine Navy spokesperson Captain John Percie said that developing anti-submarine warfare capabilities is a priority, but it is not the only area the Navy is working to enhance. He said that there is similar interest in surface warfare, anti-aircraft warfare, and electronic warfare.
Percie pointed out that cooperation with Italy, one of the world’s leading naval powers, aims to ensure that Philippine Navy personnel acquire the knowledge, skills, and technologies required to enhance their operational readiness on land and at sea.
