Palestinian Prisoner Martyred in Israeli Prisons

Ramallah: The Commission of Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club announced today the martyrdom of a detainee in an Israeli prison. In a joint statement, the Commission and the Club reported the martyrdom of detainee Samir Mohammed Yussef Al-Rifai (53 years old), from the town of Rummana in the Jenin Governorate, in Israeli prison, adding a new crime to the record of the brutal Israeli system that practices all forms of crimes aimed at killing prisoners.

According to Qatar News Agency, the statement noted that with the martyrdom of Al-Rifai, the number of martyrs among prisoners and detainees since the beginning of the war of extermination in Gaza has risen to 74, whose identities have been known, amid the ongoing crime of enforced disappearance. They considered the rising number of martyrs among prisoners and detainees an inevitable consequence that takes a more dangerous turn as more time passes for thousands of prisoners and detainees to be held in Israeli prisons.

The report further highlighted that with the martyrdom of Samir Al-Rifai, the number of martyrs from the Palestinian prisoner movement whose identities are known since 1967 has risen to 311. The growing toll underscores the dire situation and the urgent humanitarian concerns surrounding the conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention facilities.
