Doha: Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa announced that Gaza’s recovery will require an estimated USD 67 billion, intended to cover infrastructure, governance, and public services.
According to Qatar News Agency, Mustafa addressed a gathering in Ramallah consisting of 100 international and diplomatic representatives, where he unveiled a comprehensive recovery plan for Gaza. This plan includes 56 sub-programs spanning 18 sectors, such as housing, infrastructure, and governance.
Mustafa emphasized that the recovery process in Gaza will be spearheaded by Palestinian institutions, with the support of the international community. The reconstruction will proceed in three phases: an initial USD 3.5 billion for early recovery over six months, USD 30 billion for sectoral rebuilding over three years, followed by long-term comprehensive reconstruction efforts.
He called for global backing for a reconstruction initiative that is led by Palestinians and supported by Arab nations, highlighting its importance in restoring hope and stability in the region. The first phase will be initiated once a ceasefire is achieved and funding is secured.
Mustafa detailed that the early recovery plan will focus on essential activities such as clearing debris, restoring infrastructure, providing temporary housing, and implementing cash aid and job programs. It will also support small businesses, agriculture, banking, health, education, and services for people with disabilities.
