Palestine Condemns Israeli Occupation Authorities’ Decision to Build 764 New Settlement Units in West Bank

Ramallah: The Palestinian Presidency condemned Wednesday the Israeli occupation authorities’ announcement of plans to build 764 new settlement units in the West Bank, considering it an Israeli attempt to undermine all international efforts aimed at halting violence and escalation and achieving stability in the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh stated that the Israeli decision is rejected and violates international law and legitimacy, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which affirmed that all settlement activity in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip is illegal. He stressed that these settlement decisions will not grant legitimacy or security to anyone.

The official spokesperson called on the administration of US President Donald Trump to pressure the occupation authorities to reverse their settlement policies, annexation and expansion attempts, and theft of Palestinian land, and to force them to comply with international legitimacy and international law resolutions, in order to make President Trump’s efforts and endeavors to stop the war and achieve stability in the region a success.
