Doha: The Sultanate of Oman has called for staging a peaceful global campaign to lift the blockade on the Palestinian people, emphasizing that just peace forms a core pillar of enduring security, stability, and development, with the Palestinian cause at the forefront of the exigent priorities.
According to Qatar News Agency, this appeal was made through Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, during the General Debate of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) convened in New York. Al Busaidi urged the international community to take measures to restrict the Israeli government’s policies of genocide and illegal occupation, highlighting the alarming situation of starvation and blockade faced by Palestinians.
From the UN podium, Al Busaidi called for a global peaceful campaign to lift the blockade and injustice imposed on the Palestinian people, advocating for their liberation through the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state. He emphasized the need to end the Israeli occupation and restore the legitimate rights of Palestinians by implementing the two-state solution, which he described as the only fair path toward lasting peace.
Additionally, Al Busaidi reiterated Oman’s solidarity with Qatar, condemning the Israeli aggression against Qatar on September 9, 2025. He also condemned Israeli aggression against Iran, Yemen, Syria, and Lebanon, calling for sanctions on Israel for its violations of international law.
Al Busaidi noted that while the United Nations celebrates eighty years of its founding, Israel’s refusal to engage in serious dialogue threatens the credibility of the international system. He affirmed the need for genuine collaborative action on various global issues, including climate crises and the transition to clean energy, as part of Oman’s vision for sustainable development.
