OIC Denounces UNSC Failure to Stop Israeli Aggression on Gaza Strip

Jeddah, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its dismay and denunciation over the failure of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to pass a resolution for ceasefire in Gaza Strip.

This failure is negatively reflected on the UNSC's role in maintaining international peace and security, protecting innocent civilians, as well as putting an end to this aggravating humanitarian catastrophe due to the persistent Israeli wanton aggression on the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, said OIC Secretary-General, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, in a press statement.

Taha warned that the failure of the UNSC in upholding its responsibility at this critical stage gives the Israeli occupation an opportunity to escalate its aggression on the Palestinian people, reiterating the importance of continuing the efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire, getting humanitarian assistance into Gaza Strip, and providing international protection for the Palestinian people.

The UNSC once again failed to vote in favor of a resolution for immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip due to humanitarian reasons after the United States of America vetoed that resolution.
