OIC Commends Belgium and Netherlands for Banning Israeli Settlement Imports

Jeddah: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has applauded the recent decisions by the governments of Belgium and the Netherlands to prohibit the importation of products originating from Israeli settlements located on occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.

According to Qatar News Agency, the OIC's statement on Wednesday described the decisions by Belgium and the Netherlands as significant legal and political achievements. These actions align with principles of international justice and adhere to international law, the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and resolutions of international legitimacy.

The OIC highlighted United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, which underscores the illegality of Israeli settlements and emphasizes the necessity for an immediate halt to all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.

Moreover, the General Secretariat of the OIC reiterated its appeal to the international community and countries worldwide to emulate these decisions. It urged them to adopt practical and legislative measures to ban all economic, financial, and service-related activities associated with the Israeli occupation authorities and their colonial endeavors in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
