More than 20 ISIS Leaders Eliminated in Iraqi Airstrikes

Doha: More than 20 ISIS leaders were killed in airstrikes conducted in 2025, as revealed by an Iraqi parliamentary committee. These operations are expected to have significant impacts on the activity of sleeper cells and bolster the country’s security and stability.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Iraqi Parliament’s Security and Defense Committee stated that the air force’s role is crucial and effective in the fight against ISIS. The committee highlighted that prior airstrikes in remote areas display their capability to target any part of Iraq’s geography to dismantle ISIS concentrations.

On Saturday, Iraqi authorities declared the elimination of an ISIS group through two airstrikes in northern Iraq. The Iraqi Joint Operations Command indicated in a statement that the first airstrike followed days of intelligence surveillance. This surveillance identified a substantial ISIS assembly in Wadi Al Shai, east of Salah Al-Din Governorate, which was then targeted by fighter jets, leading to the destruction of the gathering and the deaths of several ISIS members.

The efforts to dismantle ISIS continue as Iraqi security forces persist in tracking down ISIS remnants, frequently targeting militant gatherings, especially in the northern and western parts of the country.
