Major Fire in New York City Injures 23, Including 19 Firefighters

Doha: Twenty-three people, including 19 firefighters, were injured in a large fire that broke out on Sunday in the New York City borough of Queens, according to local authorities.

According to Qatar News Agency, the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) said that all the injured were transported to hospitals. Local media reported that five firefighters sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious, with one remaining hospitalized in critical condition.

Chief of Fire Operations Kevin Woods said that upon arrival, firefighters found two buildings completely engulfed in flames, and the fire had already spread to a third building.

Firefighters evacuated and rescued several residents from the building where the fire originated and continued their efforts to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings.
