Yakutat: An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck on Thursday the Alaskan region of Yakutat, the US.
According to Qatar News Agency, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said in a report that the quake occurred at a depth of nine kilometers. There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far.
Alaska is located above the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area where tectonic plates meet, and the friction of which leads to strong seismic and volcanic activity.
