Copiapo: An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck Chile on Tuesday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the epicenter of the quake was located 26 kilometers southeast of Copiapo in northwestern Chile, at a depth of 92.2 kilometers.
Chile is known for its seismic activity, being situated in the Ring of Fire, an area with frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions surrounding the Pacific Ocean basin. In 2010, the country experienced a devastating 8.8-magnitude earthquake followed by a tsunami, which resulted in the loss of 500 lives in central and southern Chile.
