Libya ranks 4th in Africa and 6th in the Arab world in gold reserves.Journalists’ Union releases media freedoms’ report of 2023

Tripoli: Libya ranked 4th in Africa and 6th in the Arab world in terms of gold reserves in its central bank, as it possesses 116.6 tons of gold reserves. The Libyan Indicators Building Center stated that gold represents about 10.43% of the total reserves in the Central Bank of Libya (CBL). Purchases of Arab central banks amounted to 54.8 tons of gold in 2023, led by the CBL with about 30 tons, followed by the Iraqi Central Bank, which bought 12.3 tons. Globally, the US topped the list with more than 813 tons of gold reserves in the world, followed by Germany and Italy. Source: Libyan News Agency Damascus, Journalists' Union in Syria on Monday called for the immediate removal of the unjust blockade and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people which also affect the journalists in different media institutions. The Union, releasing the media freedoms' report in Syria for 2023, called for condemning the crimes, which reach the level of killing the journalists and violating their rights at the hands of Qasad separatist militia and other US and Turkish- linked terrorist groups, and brining perpetrators to justice. It also called on the people's Assembly to study proposals submitted by the Union on the draft media law. Source: Syrian Arab News Agency
