Doha: Lebanon and Israel have signed a US-brokered framework agreement following several days of negotiations in Washington, marking what American officials described as an initial step towards peace. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the two sides had reached the agreement after talks in the US capital. He noted that negotiators had taken "an important step towards achieving peace between Lebanon and Israel", while also cautioning that "there is still a long way to go".
According to Qatar News Agency, Lebanese Ambassador to the United States Nada Moawad described the signing as "a first step towards restoring Lebanon's sovereignty". No further details of the framework agreement were immediately released.
