Latest Updates: Israeli Genocidal War in Gaza Claims 256 Palestinian Journalists

Gaza: The number of slain Palestinian journalists has risen to 256 since the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, following the announcement of the death of a journalist after his tent was bombed in central Gaza.

According to Qatar News Agency, the murdered journalist, Mohammad Al Munirawi, who worked for the local Palestine newspaper in Gaza, raised the total number of killed journalists to 256, the government media office said on Wednesday. Al Munirawi and his mother-in-law were killed at dawn after Israeli aircraft targeted his tent in Al Nuseirat camp in central Gaza.

The government office condemned the targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists by Israel in a systematic manner and called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all journalistic bodies worldwide to call out these systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media professionals in Gaza.

Since its offensive on the Gaza enclave on Oct. 7, 2023, Israel has been directly targeting journalists, destroying dozens of media institutions, offices, channels, and radio stations operating in the Strip. It has also arrested dozens and detained them in its dungeons, and injured around 400 others, some reeling from permanent disabilities, paralysis, or amputation of limbs, while continuing to block foreign press from entering Gaza, a move described by human rights and international institutions as an attempt to obliterate the truth and conceal crimes committed against civilians during the genocidal war.
