Doha: Director of Cultural Affairs and Events at the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), Khalid Abdulrahim Al Sayed, emphasized Katara's role as a leading cultural hub in the Arab world. He shared that Katara has succeeded in transforming its strategic vision into reality by hosting a continuous series of major events blending culture, arts, heritage, and sports.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Sayed highlighted Katara's efforts in showcasing the Qatari national identity while promoting cultural exchange globally. Katara hosts international, regional, and local festivals, workshops, and exhibitions, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030. The foundation has become a key player in promoting cultural diversity and preserving heritage.
Al Sayed also noted Katara's leadership in intellectual and literary realms, hosting significant awards like the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel and the Katara Prize for Prophet's Poet. These initiatives aim to encourage knowledge and preserve identity, establishing Katara as a central hub for Arab creators.
Katara's dedication extends to Quranic aesthetics through the Katara Prize for Quran Recitation, encouraging exceptional talents in Quran recitation. Its role in promoting Arabic poetry and heritage through specialized prizes and centers further solidifies its position as a guardian of the Arabic language.
Discussing heritage events, Al Sayed highlighted the Al-Galayel Championship and the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi) as key events that revive traditional Qatari practices. The Senyar Festival, showcasing maritime heritage, and the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival further emphasize Katara's commitment to cultural heritage.
Al Sayed also mentioned the integration of art and sports at Katara, with art exhibitions and sports events like the 2022 FIFA World Cup's "World Cup Legacy Exhibition" and National Sports Day activities. Katara's forward-looking vision aims for a global future where cultural unity prevails.
