Jordan: Jordan reaffirmed on Friday that it will not serve as a battleground for any conflict, announcing the temporary closure of its airspace as a precautionary measure amid rising regional tensions.
According to Qatar News Agency, in an official statement, the Kingdom strongly condemned the Israeli strikes on Iran, describing them as a blatant violation of the sovereignty of a United Nations member state and a clear breach of international law and the UN Charter.
Jordan warned of the grave consequences of such escalatory actions, which it said threaten regional peace and stability and risk further exacerbating tensions.
Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani emphasized that Jordan has not allowed, and will not allow, any violation of its airspace. He reiterated the Kingdom’s firm stance that it will not be drawn into regional conflicts.
‘Jordan’s national security is a red line,’ Momani stated. ‘The Kingdom will not tolerate any attempt to compromise its security or the safety of its citizens.’
He also urged the international community to act swiftly and exert pressure to restore calm and prevent a wider escalation.
As part of its precautionary response, the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) announced the temporary closure of Jordanian airspace.
CARC Chief Commissioner Haitham Misto said the decision was made in accordance with international civil aviation standards and safety protocols, prioritizing the protection of civilian flights and passenger safety.
He added that the closure is a precautionary measure in response to the military developments in the region and will remain under continuous evaluation.
