Japan's Nikkei index closed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Tuesday with a marginal decline, coinciding with the rise in the value of the yen, investors' monitoring of global political developments, and anticipation of the central bank meeting next week. Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended down 4.61 points, or 0.01 percent at 39,594.39, the Tokyo Stock Exchange reported.
