Japan Announces Evacuation of Last Batch of Its Citizens from Sudan

The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Saturday the arrival of a chartered plane carrying 48 Japanese with their family members who were evacuated from Sudan.

They had flown from Sudan to Djibouti on a Japanese Air Self-Defense Force plane.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry said that 57 Japanese and eight other family members have left Sudan since the fighting escalated earlier this month.

It confirmed that there is no longer any Japanese in Sudan wishing to leave.

The ministry indicated that it will continue to provide support through its missions in Djibouti
