Israeli Occupation Releases 110 Palestinian Prisoners as Part of Ceasefire Agreement

Ramallah: The Israeli occupation authorities on Thursday released 110 Palestinian prisoners as part of the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza between Hamas and the Israeli entity.

According to Qatar News Agency, official Palestinian sources reported that buses carrying the Palestinian prisoners who were agreed to be released to the West Bank departed from Israeli Ofer prison towards Ramallah. Other buses transported the Palestinian prisoners destined for deportation abroad, while prisoners from the Gaza Strip were handed over to the International Red Cross at the Kerem Abu Salem crossing in the southern Gaza Strip.

Nine prisoners arrived in the Gaza Strip, where they were received by a medical team from the International Committee of the Red Cross and a crowd of locals. Upon arrival, they were transferred to the European Hospital east of Khan Yunis for an initial medical examination.

The Prisoners and Freed Prisoners Affairs Authority, along with the Palestinian Prisoners Club and the Prisoners’ Media Office, announced that the list of released prisoners in the second batch of the exchange deal includes 110 individuals. This group comprises 32 prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, 48 with high sentences, and 30 child prisoners.

The release of the Palestinian prisoners followed the Hamas movement’s handover of three Israeli detainees, including a female soldier, to the International Committee of the Red Cross earlier in the afternoon. This exchange is part of the prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and the Israeli entity, which was established following the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

The ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Israeli entity came into effect on January 19, marking the end of the conflict that began on October 7, 2023, when the Israeli occupation army waged a war on the Gaza Strip.
