Israeli Forces Continue Assaults on Southern Lebanon

Beirut: The Israeli forces continued their assault on southern Lebanon Sunday by opening fire toward the towns of Shebaa, Kfarshouba, and Blida, field sources reported. The escalating tensions have raised concerns in the region, with residents of these towns experiencing increasing distress.

According to Qatar News Agency, Israeli drones have been launching sound bombs toward the towns of Blida, Marwahin, and Al Khiyam. This development comes despite a ceasefire deal that came into effect on November 27, mandating the withdrawal of Israeli forces from border towns and villages in southern Lebanon within a 60-day period.

The Lebanese government had agreed to extend this deadline until February 18, hoping to see a reduction in hostilities. However, the Israeli occupation army has maintained its presence in five strategic points, continuing its activities which the Lebanese military claims have resulted in over 4,500 breaches. These breaches have exacerbated the already fragile relations between the two nations, prompting calls for international intervention to uphold the ceasefire agreement.
