Iraq and Japan discuss the development and consolidation of political and economic relations

Acting Head of the Asia and Australia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Diyari Ahmed Majeed, met with the Japanese Ambassador to Baghdad, Futoshi Matsumoto, at the Ministry's headquarters.

The two sides affirmed their keenness to develop and consolidate the political and economic relations between the two friendly countries.

The head of the Asia and Australia Department indicated that Iraq is looking forward to building economic partnerships with its partners and friends from countries, led by Japan, with the aim of rebuilding and rehabilitating the infrastructure.

The two sides also discussed the historical relations between Iraq and Japan and the importance of strengthening them to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.

For his part, Ambassador Matsumoto confirmed that he is making efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, and he also thanked the head of the department for the follow-up made by the Asia and Australia Department to overcome the obstacles facing the work of the Embassy of Japan in Baghdad.
