Doha: The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and Qatar-based Al Afiyah Health Channel have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation on public health awareness, with a focus on preventing obesity and diabetes. The agreement aims to support community initiatives, produce evidence-based health content, run joint awareness campaigns, and promote healthier lifestyles to help curb the spread of chronic diseases.
According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Salem Al Kuwari, founder and director general of Al Afiyah Health Channel, emphasized that the partnership reflects the growing role of health media in changing behavior and encouraging disease prevention. This collaboration is seen as a significant step in amplifying the impact of health messages through media platforms.
Dr. Adel El Sayed, the IDF's representative, noted the importance of working with specialized media platforms to deliver evidence-based health messages. This collaboration is expected to support efforts to reduce obesity and type 2 diabetes across the region, leveraging the reach and influence of Al Afiyah Health Channel to educate the public effectively.
Dr. Abdullah Al Hamaq, chief executive of the Qatar Diabetes Association, stressed that collaboration between health and media organizations is crucial for achieving lasting community impact. By strengthening awareness of healthy lifestyles, the partnership aims to empower communities with the knowledge and tools necessary to prevent chronic diseases.
