The ICRC stressed in a statement that detainees must be treated humanely, provided with appropriate detention conditions, and allowed to communicate with their families, in accordance with international humanitarian law.
According to Qatar News Agency, the statement added that the ICRC facilitated the transfer of 37 detainees, including a woman, who were released and transferred from the Kerem Abu Salem crossing to Nasser Medical Complex in the Gaza Strip, and also facilitated their communication and reunification with their families.
Since 2023, the ICRC has facilitated the transfer of more than 2,700 detainees released in this manner, noting that it has not been able to access detainees in Israeli detention centers since October 2023.
The ICRC added that many Palestinian families are anxiously awaiting any news about their detained relatives, given their concern for their health and safety. The committee affirmed its continued dialogue with the Israeli authorities to resume visits to all Palestinian detainees.
