Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received a phone call from HE President of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid. The conversation between the two leaders focused on regional security concerns and the recent Iranian attack on Al-Udeid Air Base.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Iraqi President expressed his country’s solidarity with Qatar and strongly condemned the Iranian attack. He described it as a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace and a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter. The Iraqi President reiterated his country’s opposition to any aggression that threatens Qatar’s security and the stability of the region.
HE the Iraqi President also acknowledged the efforts made by HH the Amir in facilitating a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, highlighting the importance of diplomatic solutions in maintaining regional peace.
In response, HH the Amir expressed gratitude for Iraq’s support and solidarity with Qatar. He appreciated the sentiments of solidarity extended by the Iraqi President, reaffirming the strong ties between the two nations.
