Doha: The General Assembly of the Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) elected Hamad Ahmed Al Hammadi as President of the QTTA by acclamation for the new term (2025-2028). This significant development occurred during the General Assembly meeting chaired by Khalil Al Mohannadi, the former President of the QTTA, after a quorum was reached. The meeting witnessed participation from members of the General Assembly, club representatives, and a representative of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
According to Qatar News Agency, Ahmed Khalil Al Mohannadi was also elected Secretary General of the QTTA by acclamation. The QTTA's Board of Directors saw the election of Jaber Saeed Afifa, Mohammed Hassan Al Rumaihi, and Abdullah Bader Al Sada, all by acclamation. The agenda of the General Assembly included the ratification of the minutes from the 2024 meeting, review of the Board of Directors' report on activities during the 2024-2025 sports season, discussions on future participation plans, and approval of the 2026 draft budget.
During the meeting, Khalil Al Mohannadi was unanimously elected as Honorary President of the QTTA, acknowledging his significant contributions over the past 30 years. The new QTTA President, Hamad Al Hammadi, emphasized efforts to elevate the sport to new technical and administrative levels, aligning with the aspirations and future plans of Qatari sports. He expressed commitment to maintaining Qatar's leading position in international competitions, aiming for continuous improvement of national teams across all age groups.
Ahmed Khalil Al Mohannadi, expressing his delight at being elected Secretary General, highlighted plans to consolidate the sport's achievements from the past three decades. He noted that the General Secretariat will focus on activating communication channels with clubs and developing local competitions as a primary talent source for national teams. Al Mohannadi concluded by stating their goal to participate in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, aiming for a competitive pool of players capable of matching Asian teams.
