Berlin: German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has reaffirmed the importance of a ceasefire in Ukraine following the Alaska summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Qatar News Agency, Wadephul emphasized that a halt to hostilities is a prerequisite for any further negotiations. He stated that without a ceasefire, it is unreasonable to expect anyone, especially Ukraine, to continue talks or engage in a peace process.
“Any conversation aimed at finally ending this war is a good conversation and one we support,” Wadephul remarked. He also pointed out that President Trump is now focusing on a comprehensive agreement but stressed the principle of “No agreement about Ukraine without Ukraine.”
