Berlin: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz warned that a prolonged war in Iran could have uncontrollable consequences for the Middle East and beyond, including Europe. "It would not be in our interest for this war to continue for a long time," Merz said in a press statement on Friday.
According to Qatar News Agency, Merz expressed concerns about the possibility of the collapse of the Iranian state or the outbreak of proxy conflicts on its territories. He highlighted that such scenarios could have far-reaching consequences for Europe, impacting security, energy supplies, and migration.
The German Chancellor emphasized the importance of guaranteeing the security and existence of all countries in the region. He called for dialogue and confidence-building measures to be prioritized once the fighting ends, underscoring the need for a stable and peaceful Middle East.
