GCC Chief and UK Deputy PM Discuss Regional Developments and Strategic Partnerships

Athens: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, met with the UK's Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Justice, David Lammy, to discuss regional developments and strategic partnerships. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 1st Euro-Gulf Geopolitical and Investment Summit in Greece.

According to Qatar News Agency, Albudaiwi praised the UK's efforts and supportive stance toward the GCC countries, particularly in relation to the Iranian aggressions faced by the Council states. Both leaders emphasized the importance of unifying and intensifying international efforts to promote security and stability in the region and globally.

Furthermore, the discussions covered strengthening the strategic partnership between the GCC and the UK. They focused on overcoming obstacles and aligning views on all aspects of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two sides, aiming for its signing in the near future. Both parties acknowledged the notable progress achieved in the FTA negotiations so far.
