Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed on Saturday with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov avenues for ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. During a phone call, both ministers addressed the meeting hosted by the state of Alaska between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported in a statement.
According to Qatar News Agency, Fidan hoped that the process launched in Alaska would contribute to reaching a lasting peace with the engagement of Ukraine, underscoring Turkiye’s readiness to provide all kinds of support to achieve this objective.
On Friday, Trump held a meeting with his Russian counterpart in Alaska under the theme “Pursuing Peace”, during which they discussed the potential ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, as well as bilateral relations.
Today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he would head to Washington next Monday to meet Trump to deliberate on issues related to ending the war with Russia.
