Tehran: Iranian authorities announced Sunday that domestic and international flights in the north, south, and west of the country will remain suspended until Monday afternoon. Iranian Mehr News Agency quoted Spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development Majid Akhavan as saying that it has been decided to extend the ban on domestic and international flights in the north, south, and west of the country until 2:00 pm Monday.
According to Qatar News Agency, Majid Akhavan stated that the decision to extend the flight suspension was made by the Coordination Committee of the Civil Aviation Organization. Under the current circumstances, while the airspace in the eastern half of the country is available for domestic, international, and transit flights, the central and western halves are open solely for international transit flights.
In a statement on Saturday, the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Transport had announced that the central and western airspace of the country is accessible only for international transit flights, reflecting the ongoing restrictions in place.
