First Edition of Euro-Mediterranean Women in Journalism Award Launches

Paris: The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) has announced the launch of the first edition of the Euro-Mediterranean Women in Journalism Award. This initiative is being carried out in cooperation with the Euro-Mediterranean Network of Women Journalists and in partnership with the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF), the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).

According to Qatar News Agency, submissions for the award will remain open until September 13. The award is specifically designed for female journalists who hold nationality from UfM member countries. These journalists can compete by submitting individual works. For group submissions, it is required that the team leader be a journalist and that at least 50% of the team is comprised of women.

Petra Kezman, UfM Deputy Secretary General for Human Development, stated that the award's objective is to recognize journalism that is solution-oriented. It also aims to encourage a variety of voices and promote cross-border cooperation, while countering harmful narratives.
