Extremist Burns Copy of the Holy Quran in Front of Libyan Embassy in Copenhagen

An extremist burned a copy of the Holy Quran in front of the Libyan embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Libyan ambassador to Denmark Salem Amdigish, said in statements to the Libyan News Agency (WAL), that the extremist who burned a copy of the Holy Quran will return tomorrow (Saturday) to repeat his crime, pointing out that the non-resident Danish ambassador to Libya apologized for the incident, and requested to arrange a meeting between her country's foreign minister and his Libyan counterpart on the margin of the United Nations General Assembly meeting next September.

The ambassador said that such violations on the Holy Quran, carried out by extremists, mostly in front of Muslim majority countries' embassies in Denmark, while the authorities allow these provocative acts to be carried out under the pretext of freedom of expression.

In recent months, the Swedish and the Danish authorities have allowed extremists to burn copies of the Holy Quran in front of diplomatic missions of Arab and Islamic countries under the pretext of freedom of expression.

These actions drew great condemnation from the Arab and Islamic worlds, and some Arab capitals threatened to sever their relations with Stockholm and Copenhagen in the event that these anti-Islamic and anti-Muslim practices were repeated.
