European Stocks Edge Higher Amid Basic Resources Gains

Doha: European stocks rose at the start of Monday's trading, supported by gains in basic resources stocks. The European Stoxx 600 index climbed 0.2 percent at the open, reaching 588.71 points, down from the record 589.61 it hit earlier in the session. European stocks were buoyed by positive movement in the basic resources sector.

According to Qatar News Agency, the UK's FTSE 100 and France's CAC index remained flat, while Germany's DAX saw a slight decline of 0.2 percent. Basic resources companies within the Stoxx 600 experienced a 0.7 percent increase, reflecting an uptick in precious metals prices.

The technology and healthcare sectors also contributed positively to the overall market performance. However, defense and aerospace stocks faced a downturn, falling by 1.3 percent.

Biotech firm Abivax emerged as one of the top gainers on the index, with its shares rising by 3.2 percent, highlighting a notable stock movement in an otherwise modest market session.
