European Council Urges Israel to Facilitate Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Brussels: The European Council on Tuesday called on Israel to allow the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid into all parts of the Gaza Strip immediately.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Council's meeting, which brought together European Union leaders in Brussels, emphasized the need to open crossings, transit points, and establish a medical corridor between Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. The Council also condemned Israeli unilateral actions in the occupied Palestinian territories and insisted that the United Nations, its agencies, and humanitarian organizations be granted the freedom to operate independently, alongside ensuring international media access.

The European Council highlighted the necessity of repealing the law on the registration of non-governmental organizations, stressing strict adherence to international law and the obligation to protect civilians at all times. It called for the release of withheld Palestinian revenues and financial proceeds, as well as the maintenance of banking services between Palestinian and Israeli banks, to sustain Palestinian institutions and prevent further erosion of their ability to provide essential services to the Palestinian populace.

European leaders expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, noting the severe humanitarian crisis in the region. They emphasized the urgent need for measures to alleviate civilian suffering and foster conditions suitable for achieving lasting peace.
