The European Union (EU) has begun contacts with regional and international parties to contain the Israeli escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in the aftermath of the brutal aggression against the city of Jenin and its camp last Monday.
Media officer at EU office in Palestine Shadi Othman stated that there is an intense move by the European Union to restore security, indicating that the bloc's position is based on stopping the cycle of violence taking place in the Palestinian territories, storming areas classified (A), killing civilians, and displacing families.
He stressed the need for regional and international support to resume the political effort in the Palestinian issue file, and open a certain horizon, considering that the continuation of the current situation is not in anyone's interest.
The media officer at the European Union office in Palestine also called for ensuring legal accountability for those who carry out attacks against the Palestinian people, especially as a result of settler violence, which he considered a key element of tension in the West Bank, in addition to the need to compel the Israeli entity to play its role in accordance with international law regarding the protection of Palestinian civilians.
It is noteworthy that the occupation forces had launched a brutal attack on the city of Jenin and its camp, killing 12 Palestinians, including children, and injuring more than 100 others.
