Doha: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Commander of US Central Command, General Michael Kurilla, to discuss developments in the Middle East and explore ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and joint coordination, particularly in military and security domains.
According to Qatar News Agency, President El Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, facilitate the exchange of hostages and detainees, and urgently resume the entry of humanitarian aid. He also praised US President Donald Trump’s efforts toward securing a ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the need to revive the peace process and work toward lasting peace and stability in the region.
The meeting also addressed the latest developments in Syria, Libya, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa. Discussing water resources, President El Sisi highlighted the Nile River’s importance, calling it a matter of national security for Egypt.
