Egyptian and European Council Leaders Discuss Gaza Situation Over Phone

Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed, in a phone call, with European Council President Antonio Costa, developments of regional issues of mutual interest, most notably the situation in the Gaza Strip.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the call, the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state was emphasized, as this is the only path to lasting peace in the region. Both leaders agreed on the necessity of a peace settlement conference and the implementation of the two-state solution, scheduled to be held in New York this June, and emphasized the need to intensify recognition of the Palestinian state.

They also affirmed their rejection of attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause or displace Palestinians from their lands. The conversation highlighted a shared commitment to addressing these pressing regional issues collaboratively.
