Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed in a phone call with his Dutch counterpart, Casper Veldkamp, the latest developments in Gaza Strip and maritime security in the Red Sea, as well as strengthening bilateral relations across various fields.
According to Qatar News Agency, the two ministers exchanged views on developments in the Middle East, with particular focus on the catastrophic situation in Gaza. Minister Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the Dutch position and the European Union’s efforts to raise the issue of Israel’s compliance with the EU Association Agreement, stressing the need for the international community to fully adhere to the principles of international law and reject any double standards.
The Egyptian minister condemned Israel’s decision to approve the establishment of new settlements and its continued use of starvation as a weapon against civilians in Gaza, describing it as collective punishment and a blatant violation of international law.
For his part, the Dutch foreign minister expressed his country’s commitment to rejecting Israeli occupation settlement expansion and preventing the obstruction of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
