Education Ministry Inaugurates Interactive Chambers to Augment Learning for Students with Disabilities

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) inaugurated an interactive and supportive learning space at Al Hidaya School for Special Needs Primary School Boys and Girls in Doha. The inauguration ceremony was attended by HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, alongside several assistant undersecretaries and the Ministry's leaders.

According to Qatar News Agency, the MoEHE shared that this project is part of its efforts to upgrade educational services afforded to students with disabilities and to establish state-of-the-art and comprehensive educational climates. These initiatives are aimed at bolstering the capabilities of these students, enabling them to learn and engage based on top-notch pedagogical practices. The Department of Special Education and Inclusive Education has taken the lead in retrofitting this chamber and operationalizing its educational programs, aligning with the sensory and developmental needs of students receiving special education services.

The Principal of Al Hidaya School for Special Needs Primary School Boys and Girls, Latifa Saad Al Nuaimi, emphasized that these educational chambers are grounded in the belief that all students possess God-given capabilities and talents. The educational environment is designed to embrace their varied needs, ensuring they can capitalize on instructional and assistive technologies. The project features the Immersive Reality Room, which simulates real-life experiences using interactive digital technologies to enhance students' knowledge, kinetic abilities, and communication skills.

The initiative also includes a fully integrated interactive sensory room that supports attention, focus, communication, and interaction with the surrounding environment. This room is tailored to each student's individual needs, enhancing readiness for learning and engagement in educational activities. Additionally, the school has been fitted with an ultraviolet illumination room to develop visual and spatial awareness through secure and guided sensory activities.

The project further showcases a chamber for Assistive Technology (AT), featuring modern educational technologies such as interactive carpets and sensory tents. This transforms the learning process into an interactive experience that combines movement, exploration, and learning. The MoEHE's commitment to enhancing inclusive education aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, which emphasizes investing in human capital and offering equitable educational opportunities to facilitate national development.
