E-Charging Station Fire in New Delhi Claims Two Lives and Injures Four

New Delhi: Two people were killed and four others injured Sunday in a fire that broke out at an electric vehicle charging station in the Shahdara area of the Indian capital, New Delhi.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Delhi Fire Service said that it received a report of the fire at the charging station, and firefighters were immediately dispatched to the site to control the blaze.

The incident resulted in the death of two people whose charred bodies were found at the scene. Four injured people were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities indicated that the fire caused extensive damage to the charging station, located under a tin area of approximately 400 square yards.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

India has witnessed a significant expansion in the use of electric vehicles in recent years, as part of government efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and reduce carbon emissions. This expansion has been accompanied by the spread of electric charging stations in major cities, including New Delhi, one of the most polluted cities in the world.
