Tripoli: The Derna Criminal Court ruled today, Sunday, to convict twelve defendants in the incidents attributed to sixteen officials responsible for the Derna flood incident in 2023. The Attorney General's Office stated on its official page that the court sentenced the first, second, third, sixth, seventh, eleventh, and twelfth convicts to nine years in prison and to pay the blood money. The court sentenced the tenth convict to nineteen years in prison and to pay the blood money. The thirteenth convict was sentenced to twenty-seven years in prison. The fourteenth convict was sentenced to twenty-six years in prison and to pay the blood money. The court also ruled to acquit the fifteenth convict, and imposed a prison sentence of nineteen years on him, and to pay the blood money imposed. The court imposed a prison sentence of twenty-four years on the sixteenth convict, and to pay the blood money imposed. It acquitted the fourth, fifth, eighth, and ninth defendants, and ordered the tenth, thirteenth, and fourte enth convicts to return the money obtained from the illegal gains.
