Department of Meteorology Warns of Thundery Rain, Strong Wind and High Sea Tonight

Doha: The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning about the weather conditions expected tonight, indicating that inshore weather will be hazy, partly cloudy, and rainy, with the possibility of thunderstorms in certain areas. The weather report highlights the presence of thundery rain accompanied by strong winds in some regions, which is anticipated to last until 6:00 am on Friday.

According to Qatar News Agency, offshore conditions will feature scattered clouds with the possibility of rain, potentially thundery at times. The report also warns of thundery rain coupled with strong winds and high sea conditions. Inshore winds are expected to be mainly northeasterly to northwesterly, with speeds ranging from 5 to 15 knots, escalating to 30 knots during thundery rain.

Offshore winds will similarly be mainly northeasterly to northwesterly, with speeds of 5 to 15 knots, occasionally gusting to 22 knots. The sea state inshore is predicted to range from 1 to 3 feet, while offshore conditions will vary from 2 to 4 feet, surging to 7 feet at times.

Visibility inshore is expected to be between 4 to 8 kilometers, reducing to 3 kilometers or less during thundery rain. Offshore visibility will also range from 4 to 9 kilometers, dropping to 3 kilometers or less in certain areas at times.
