The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, Jabbar Thujil Al-Haidari, signed today, Tuesday, a document of cooperation with the NATO mission operating in Iraq.
A statement by the Ministry of Defense stated that the document includes (10) long-term goals for the Office of the Secretary-General, which will focus on cooperation between NATO and the Office; For the purpose of excelling in reform in the priority areas that have been identified, in addition to its support for two sides, one on policy and strategy, and the other on the Ministerial Reform Committee itself, to continue improving in defining, developing and implementing ministerial reform in the areas of policy and strategy to be effective and sustainable and under democratic management, defense planning and the issuance of the five-year plan , and human resources management; to ensure improved accountability, transparency and integrity to prevent and investigate corruption.
The statement indicated that the document also includes the empowerment of women in the Ministry of Defense through the implementation of the Iraqi national action plan in United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, and international law that includes the application of human rights in strategies and policies, and the qualification of civil servants to enhance and qualify the civil service within the Ministry of Defense, and the management of financial resources in a manner that is transparent and determined by controls and guarantees with the appropriate authority, the transformation process and the implementation of a program that enhances the ability to define and direct long-term reform and the use of international best practices, contracts and armaments, and the preparation and implementation of a modern and effective responsive procurement process that includes a competitive contract award process. / End
