Death Toll from Morocco Earthquake Rises to 2,122

The death toll from the earthquake that struck Morocco on Friday rose to 2,122, as rescue missions and the removal of the rubbles continue.

Morocco’s Ministry of the Interior stated that the number of injured people reached 2,421.

The number of deaths reached 1,351 in Al Haouz, 492 in Taroudant, 201 in Chichaoua and 17 in Marrakesh Prefecture, the Ministry revealed.

No deaths have been reported in Ouarzazate, Azilal, Agadir-Ida-Ou Tanane, Grand Casablanca, Youssoufia and Tinghir.

The Ministry said that concerned authorities continue their efforts to rescue and evacuate the wounded, aid the victims and mobilize all the necessary capabilities to deal with the effects of the “painful catastrophe.”
